The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an independent amateur men's league — not affiliated with USL — that traces its lineage back to the 1960s and has run in its current structure since 2003. It's organized into regional conferences spanning dozens of cities, from big-metro clubs to small-town sides.
NPSL rosters mix current college players, local amateurs and the occasional former pro, and matches are played during a short summer season. It has long served as a grassroots pipeline, with several notable pros having come through NPSL clubs early in their careers.
