USL League One
The third tier of U.S. men's professional soccer
USL League One sits one level below the USL Championship as the third division in the American men's professional pyramid. Launched in 2019, it has become a proving ground for smaller-market clubs — teams such as Union Omaha, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, Richmond Kickers and Forward Madison FC — several of which draw outsized local followings relative to their market size.
The season generally runs spring through fall, with a shorter, more compact schedule than the tiers above it. With smaller rosters and tighter travel budgets, League One is often where clubs develop young talent before it moves up the pyramid.
